Tennis Betting Guide
New to betting on Tennis? We've got everything you need to know below including explanations of some of the popular markets for betting as well as important rules it's worth knowing before placing your bet.
Popular Markets
Match Winner - Bets placed on an individual to win the match in question. Official settlement rules apply.
Outright Winner - Bets placed on an individual to win the tournament.
Over/Under bets - Bets placed on the total number of games or sets in a Tennis match. A bet on Over 12.5 games in a set for example would be a winner if the set were to end 7-6 (13 games) but a loser if the set were to end 6-4 (10 games).
Handicap bets - A handicap is where a tennis player is given either an advantage or a disadvantage which must be covered in order for a bet to win. Handicaps can come in the form of game handicaps or set handicaps. Example: If a bet was placed on Player A with a -4.5 Game Handicap, then the total number of games that they won would need to be 5 or more higher than Player B. In this instance, if Player A were to win the match 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 then the total score would be 18-11, meaning a -4.5 handicap wins.
Correct Score Bets - these are either correct scores for the games in a set, or correct scores for sets in a match. You can bet on both Player A to win the first set 6-4 but also Player A to win the match 2-1 on sets.
Other Markets
Player Over / Under - this involves betting on individual players to win over or under a certain amount of games. For example, a bet on Player A to win Over 10.5 games would be a winner if they won the match 6-4, 6-2 as they won 12 games in total
Tie-breaks - You can bet on whether there will be a tie break in the match or not, or sometimes Over 1.5 tiebreaks for example. This requires any set to go to a tiebreak
Player to win at least one set - You can bet on either "yes" or "no" and the bet requires the stated player to either win or not to win a single set in order for it to win.
Important Rules to Know
Tie-breaks - Tie-breaks are always considered as one game regardless of the number of points. Points within a tie-break do not contribute towards the total number of games in a set.
Retirements - In the event that a player retires from a match, bets that would be settled as winners / losers should they have reached their natural conclusion will be settled as such, while bets that could not be settled will be void. For example, if Player A was leading Player B 6-5 in the final set and Player B retires, any bets on Over 11.5 games would be settled as winners, as they would have won regardless of the retirement. Any bets on Player A -1.5 games however would not have been able to be determined and these bets will be voided.
Replacements - any bets on doubles games where a player is replaced during the course of play will be voided.
